Theory Bootcamp is a 100% free website for guitar players who are tired of not knowing theory.

But aren’t there a million resources for this already?

Yes. And that could be part of why you’re tired. There might be a lot of options but there are very few that:

  • are designed for guitar players,
  • teach the minimal info necessary,
  • and are in order.

How Does It Work?

Theory Bootcamp is an ordered series of articles that cover various topics and give you specific instructions.

How Long Will It Take?

If you follow the instructions, we think you’ll be done with “music theory” in 3-4 months with less than an hour a day of effort.

Do I Have to Be Smart or Know Music Already?

No. Music has 12 notes. We’re going to study those 12 notes and learn how we can arrange them in orders. That’s it.

If you can count to 12, say your alphabet from A-G, and complete a grocery store trip with a list, you have all of the intelligence needed to learn the music theory we’ll be going over.

3 Learning Pillars

There are only a handful of theory things you need to learn to play most of the music you want to play.

These things should be learned in a specific order.

These things should be applied in a specific way so that you can once and for all internalize them, use them in your music, and get over the hump of learning theory.
